=== **Page: 1 of 2** Power loss darkens June 13, 1971 Granby Street area NORFOLK-A 30-minute electrical power failure today knocked out lights along three miles of Granby Street, jammed a closed railroad crossing gate at Wards Corner and stalled an occupied elevator in an office building. Power was out from 10:22 a.m. to 10:52 a.m. along both sides of Granby from the Lafayette River to Bayview Boulevard. The N & W Railway gates at Wards Corner were down when the lights went out, and they stayed down for about 15 minutes before policemen were able to lift them and get traffic moving again. The Fire Department was called to the Midtown Office Building to release a woman from an elevator that stuck between floors. Her name was not given. E. C. Baker Jr., Norfolk manager of Virginia Electric and Power Company, said a transformer was knocked out at the Taussig Boulevard substation but that the precise cause had not been determined. Sat. 6/5/71 ① (7 DAY INTERVALS) APPROX June 20, 1971 Car Causes Blackout 4,000 in Darknes; TV Interrupted By JOHN PRUITT Virginian-Pilot Sports Writer NORFOLK-A power blackout affected as many as 4,000 people in Norfolk Saturday after a car struck a Virginia Electric & Power Co. pole. The blackout, which for some lasted for hours, affected residents in Ghent, Huntersville and along East Princess Anne Road. Three people were stuck for 2½ hours in two Hague Towers elevators. Norfolk General Hospital and Leigh Memorial Hospital, both served by auxiliary power, were in the blackout area. The power outage knocked out network television to Tidewater stations. The stations had transmitting power and network sound but network video reception, supplied by American Telephone & Telegraph equipment via microwave relay, was interrupted. WTAR began transmitting local programs at 9 p.m., about an hour after the microwave difficulty. Service was restored 9:21 p.m. C. B. Harris, Vepco superintendent of service, said the electrical failure started at 5:55 p.m. Two passengers in a car which crashed into the pole at Llewellyn Avenue and East Princess Anne Road suffered minor injuries, police said. Harris said the crash caused hot wires to touch, knocking out four other circuits. The blackout area is served by McLaughlin Substation at Killam Avenue and 24th Street. Mrs. Louise A. Bartley and her granddaughter, Beth Meyers, were stuck in one Hague Towers elevator and John Fitzwilliams Jr. in another. Fitzwilliams, just out of the hospital for a checkup on a back injury, said, "I lay down on the floor (of the elevator) because of my back." Mrs. Bartley and Miss Myers were trapped between floors at the 11th floor station. Firemen and maintenance men opened a door lock to free the women. Fitzwilliams got out by a ladder. The Vepco superintendent said the trouble was isolated by 7:30 p.m. and power restored then for some sections. Complete restoration was not accomplished until midnight. "It messed up the whole west-side of town," Harris said. Victoria B. Camel, 18, and Philip M. Camel, 19, of the 1200 block of Candlewood Drive, struck the pole after their car was struck by another, police said. Police said the Camels were riding north on Llewellyn when their car was struck by a car driven by Gilbert Frazier of Washington, D.C. The Camel car crossed over Princess Anne Road and struck the pole, they said. Frazier was charged with failure to keep to the right. All three TV stations were out, for over an hour! Power Out PK ② (this is wrong!!) Virginian-Pilot, Sunday, June 13, 1971 B9 Power-Seeking Snake Puts Many in Darkness WINDSOR-A wandering 3-foot blacksnake crawled into electrical equipment near here Friday night and caused a power outage for 950 customers of Community Electric Cooperative, an REA affiliate based here. Jean E. Woodward, co-op manager, said the snake touched a piece of equipment about 10 feet high at the Virginia Electric & Power Co. substation about three miles west of here, causing a short circuit. The short knocked out a nearby REA substation, and REA customers were blacked out for periods up to an hour. Woodward estimated damage at $10,000. A Vepco spokesman said the snake contacted a 34,500-volt circuit breaker, as a result of which fuses blew on the utility's 115,000-volt substation. Then, he said, an insulator on another set of circuit-breakers serving REA broke, and the REA substation went out of commission. The snake was found at the Vepco substation, burned to a crisp. June 20, 1971 CONTACTS IF I HADN'T SENT MADORY (AND YOU) THE ATTACHED LETTER CONTAINING MY INTENT TO CAUSE LOCAL NORFOLK POWER KNOCKOUTS, THEN THESE THREE OCCURRENCES WOULD BE THOUGHT OF AS JUST ACCIDENTAL. (1) IS UNKNOWN CAUSE. (2) IS CAUSED BY A SNAKE. (3) IS CAUSED BY A CAR CRASH. (THESE WERE NOT CAUSED BY OVERLOAD OF LOCAL POWER!!) THIS IS HOW PK WORKS TO BEAT PRO FOOTBALL TEAMS IN WEIRD FREAKISH WAYS! - MY MIND DECIDES ON A TARGET; I SEND FORTH MENTAL POWER AT THE TARGET; THEN THE TARGET IS HIT NOT JUST IN ONE WAY, BUT IN VARIOUS ODD WAYS, TO BRING ABOUT MY PLANNED RESULT. DALLAS COWBOYS FOR INSTANCE... LOST PRO BOWL; COACH HAD A HEART ATTACK; A KEY PLAYER RAMMED HIS ARM THRU CAR WINDSHIELD; LANCE RENTZEL ARRESTED AND RUINED REPUTATION; CRAIG MORTON, STR BACK, JUST WENT BANKRUPT. FIND SO ON, THE PK REACHES OUT AND USES ANY MEANS TO BRING ABOUT THE DESIRED RESULT. At 4 in the afternoon - I deliberately sent power out from my mind, to cause local power blackout. The below then took place. I called Madory & referred him to June 13 letter! - Evans === **Page: 2 of 2** Mt. Etna eruptions now over 6/3/71 CATANIA, Sicily (AP) - Mt. Etna's latest eruption has ended after 55 days. Farmers and villagers began carting possessions back to the homes they abandoned. It was the fourth worst eruption in three centuries. Villagers returned to damaged homes evacuated on the northern edge of the mountain-side crossroads village of Fornazzo. Streams of molten rock narrowly missed striking the en-tire village. Many residents are starting from scratch. Their orchards and vineyards have been burned and their croplands are buried under cooling lava. Experts estimated that Etna poured out 140 million cubic yards of lava since April 5, making the fourth greatest eruption since 1669 when lava from the volcano destroyed the city of Catania. Two days after I wrote Controls I put it out!! June 3, 1971 To: Larry Meddrey, Columnist, Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk) Dear Larry: It is done. As you know...in my weird and strange ways...I have brought about approx. 250 miracles by this time...documenting them before the fact...and now I have done it again. Please refer to your letter from me of May 28, 1971...down near the end...where I say: "If I can only divert or stop this fifth flow...then put the volcano "to sleep"...I will have a perfect score." Well, this is exactly what the Si's and I have done, working as a team. The fifth flow got as close as fifteen yards from the village of Fornazzo...and all the people moved out...but the Si's and I diverted yet this fifth flow, and the village was saved...again. You know, if it had happened just one time...a lava flow a mile wide, eighteen feet deep...surprisingly missing one of the villages after heading straight for it on a downhill course...you could argue "coincidence." But...five flows either stopped or diverted? And just as I called it to you in advance? Forget it! All right. So...we saved Fornazzo from the fifth flow. Next step, as I pointed out in my letter of the 28th...was not to stop another flow...but to put the volcano to sleep! To do this...I used a new technique the Si's taught me just for this; rather, two. One was a "cauterizing" technique...I was told to use my mind, telepathing a certain sequence of symbols...which would cause psi-force to cauterize the lava rents in the volcano, just as a wound is cauterized. Also, I was instructed how to pound the volcano from all sides...with the same PK force I used these past few years to throw football players through the air...the objective being (I know this sounds ridiculous, but it's the truth) to BURP the volcano...just as a baby is burped when it has gas on its stomach. The Si's explained to me that man-made bombing or explosions would not have sufficient force to do this...but my own mind, using PK force, would have infinitely more striking power to do the job. They explained further...that this PK force, pounding from all sides, would have the effect of driving gasses from inside the volcano...thus allowing the volcano to become quiescent. It worked like a charm. I followed their instructions (also putting a PK bubble over the top) and there were no more lava flows...and the volcanic activity came to a screeching halt. And so, as I pointed out in my letter of the 28th...I do indeed have a perfect score! I am frustrated...in that I tried so hard...to get this documented publicly...before bringing it to a successful conclusion (I tried to place my international reputation on the line...a pretty serious business for me) by informing you, and the editors of the Virginian-Pilot and the Ledger Star. I will work off my frustration by performing yet another miraculous feat! Starting this weekend I am going to use my own mind power (won't call in the Si's on this)...to knock out the power and electricity, not only in the Norfolk area, but on as wide a radius in the state of Virginia as possible...so you can begin looking for some wild power failures and all effects. Glenn Manning * For the next 50 days, give or take a few.) (SNAKE KNOCKED OUT POWER; THAT'S WILD!) I have known the Si's for many years
