SPECIAL Contact Letter!

NOTICE: (Am starting with all this 'fanfare' because of the drastic, dynamic, volatile nature of this special Si communication!)

The Si's communicated with me, and told me to hurry, to get this message to the government, to scientists, and to the people.

They are erecting a deadline. Setting up a deadline for action.

If their representative...me...should not be hired by one of several rich men now contemplating the action...thus making it possible for the Si's and myself to help and aid mankind as a whole...should I be hired, that is)...then the Si's announce that they will do the following, in the near time ahead:

ATTACK AND DESTROY THE U.S. STOCK MARKET AND THE U.S. ECONOMY.

They say...if our country is in trouble now financially, at least "the house is still standing". Shaky though it may be.

They, the Si's, will bring our house down around our ears. They will make the United States go totally broke, everywhere at once. Starting with our stock market.

Should I be hired, and thus be enabled to work with them, the Si's, to help the U.S., plus mankind as a whole...in that event the Si's will use the same powers they have to rescue the United States from its present difficulties.

For those of you Contacts who might be skeptical of this letter...let me remind you...that some years ago, when the East Coast was gripped in a terrible drought...I announced that the Si's would end the six-year-long drought, bring the rains, and help the East Coast, just as a demonstration of their powers. Following my announcement, by written letter to Contacts and over the Jack McKinney "Night Talk" Radio Show in Philadelphia, and over the "Talk of Philadelphia" Radio Show... the rains came to the east coast, and the six-year-drought ended.

The Si's mean what they say. They do not "speak with a forked tongue".

Since I have had no word...from the 3 rich men contemplating hiring me (at a salary lower than that of good pro basketball players)...then it might very well be that this letter you are reading now...will signal the end...of America as we have known it in our lifetime.

Sincerely,

Ted Owens (PK Man)

GOVERNMENT PHYSICIST DISCOVERS

UFO CONTACTS... THIS IS VITALLY IMPORTANT!!

by FRANK NELSON

Unidentified Flying Objects are using an isolated island in the Bahamas as a base for monitoring U.S. space flights and for a staging area to collect human "specimens" from earth.

Dr. Jonathon Wright, National Aeronautics and Space Administration physicist, revealed this startling news at his Nassau hotel last week after returning from a 3-month research cruise through the outer islands.

"There is no question about it," Dr. Wright said, "we have absolute proof that UFOs periodically land on a tiny shoal about 50 miles off Grand Cayman."

Dr. Wright heads a special-priority UFO investigative department in NASA. He also participated in the UFO study carried out for the air force at the University of Colorado two years ago.

The NASA team was drawn to the Bahamas shortly before Christmas when two more ships and an airplane mysteriously disappeared in an area called "the Bermuda Triangle".

Over 120 ships and planes have vanished so far in a triangular area of ocean between Bermuda, Miami and the Bahamas.

"We've wondered for years what was going on in that area," said Dr. Wright. "At the Cape Kennedy control center we would get strange electronic blips during launch times. Our instruments showed that they came from this area.

"Then there were all the famous disappearances of airplanes and ships in the triangle. On top of that we had several accounts of UFO sightings from some of the islands.

"So when the two ships and the plane disappeared in December, we decided to have a look," he continued. "We took a small boat full of electronic equipment out to one of the small islands and sat and waited."

After two weeks Dr. Wright reported that his research team sighted three bright, circular objects descend toward the horizon not too far away.

Then, a week later they took off again and disappeared in the night sky. Dr. Wright moved his small boat in for a closer look and two weeks later the three objects landed again.

DR. JONATHON WRIGHT claims he has found UFO base in Bahamas

"This time we were very close," he reported. "We could see two small windows in the tiny craft. The UFOs themselves were shaped like tuna fish cans and could hover and fly sideways."

Dr. Wright says his team landed on the small island and walked toward the strange machines but he won't say what he saw when they arrived.

"Someday I suppose the full report will be made public," he said, "but not yet. All I can say is when we got very close to the objects, they took off with incredible speed and headed into the sky in the direction of Bermuda."

Dr. Wright says there is a definite link between the mysterious radio signals received at Cape Kennedy and the disappearance of small

large mother ship, or UFO, hovers several hundred miles above the Triangle and watches everything that goes on there. Then, when there is going to be a moonshot or something of interest, it sends down the small reconnaissance UFOs.

"Those are the ones we saw on the island and, based on what they were doing, we can say that they were monitoring our January 25 moonshot.

"They are very careful about the whole thing so as not to panic the people on earth. They only watch one scientific development, our moon program, and only take one or two specimens every 2 or 3 years."

Dr. Wright won't explain exactly how he thinks the ships and planes disappear, but he hints that the huge UFO mother ship comes down to the surface and actually lifts whole yachts out of the water, or flies alongside a wouldn't arouse suspicion since small planes and yachts are always disappearing.

"People don't get too upset because few people seem to care when a rich person disappears in his private boat or plane. That's just one of the risks of sailing or flying.

"And these people make perfect specimens for the space creatures to study. They are usually quite intelligent men, business leaders, important officials and so on.

"I can tell you one thing," said Dr. Wright. "I'm never going back to that island in a small boat and I'm never going to fly across the Bermuda Triangle."

# Unitas Under Surgery

## Hurt Playing Paddle Ball

BALTIMORE (AP) - Doctors expressed optimism Wednesday night after performing surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon of Baltimore Colts' quarterback John Unitas.

The veteran quarterback injured his right foot while playing paddle ball Wednesday, and underwent 75 minutes of surgery, starting at 6 p.m.

"The surgery confirmed the early diagnosis of a ruptured Achilles tendon," Colts' spokesman said. "The tendon was separated about two inches above the right heel. The separation was repaired and Colt doctors are optimistic about the surgery."

Unitas is expected to be in a cast for about six weeks.

Baltimore halfback Tom Matte, who was playing with Unitas when he was injured, drove Unitas to Union Memorial Hospital. Later, when Matte drove to Havre de Grace, Md., on a business trip, he suffered an attack of bleeding ulcers and also has been admitted to the same hospital.

Unitas, the leading passer of all time, holds records for the most attempts, most completions, most touchdowns and most yardage gained.

The 36-year-old veteran of 15 years in the National Football League was injured about 11 a.m., the Colts said.

General Manager Don Klosterman of the Colts said the prognosis for recovery was good.

"I am told the prognosis is good. (Possibly he will play this season,)" Klosterman said.

When asked about preparing backup quarterback, Klosterman said "Well, we are very fortunate to have Earl Morrall . . ." and George Myra, Sam Havrilak and Carl Douglas.

April 8, 1971..........TO ALL PRO FOOTBALL TEAMS

The attached newsclip is a "special delivery letter to you, from my Si's (UFO intelligences). What am I talking about?

Weeks ago...Don Klosterman, General Manager of the Colts, dropped me a line inquiring about my reason for using "PK" on the World Champion Colts. I answered and explained that I must demonstrate each year...my incredible powers...by holding back the winner of the Pro Championship the following season...as I have done with the Jets and Kansas City Chiefs...and now must do with the Colts.

I warned Mr. Klosterman and Mr. Rosenbloom Sr. specifically and clearly that my mental attack had already been placed in motion against the Colts...was effecting them now...and if they intended to hire me they had better do it quickly before the PK began to tear the team apart.

(You don't believe this? Then check with the two gentlemen.)

They ignored me (always a terrible mistake, but no one seems to learn from it) and so two of their fine stars are zonked...Unitas and Matte, both in the same hospital at the same time...both struck down in the same relative time period of 24 hours.

Also just recently my number two target, PK target, the Cowboys...have had two star players (one their quarterback, also) and one of their coaches zonked.

And the regular season hasn't even begun yet!

I keep on giving these fantastic demonstrations of how 150-some-odd other-dimensional powers can take pro teams apart, stop them cold, etc., yet none of them seems to want this hair-raising power on their side! This, to me, is unbelievable.

Last year I stopped approx. fifty million dollars worth of pro football teams. This coming season...let's see...what's thirteen times ten million?

Dear Mr. Owens:

Your correspondence with Don Klosterman, General Manager of my football team, has been brought to my attention and I must confess absolute concern of what I have read.

For the life of me, I can't understand what the Colts have done to warrant a place on your list of losers for the 1971 season. Please believe me when I request that you remove us from your list of losers. If you will please advise me as to a course of action which we could follow to have us removed from this category, I will do whatever I can to comply. I note with a great deal of interest your record of accomplishments and trust you will intervene with the SI's on our behalf.

Should you journey to either the Miami or Baltimore area, I would enjoy meeting with you to learn more about your power to communicate with the SI's and your psycho-kinetic powers in general.

I thank you for considering this request.

Sincerely,

SECTION H

Hex Maniac Assaults NFL Colts for $100,000

NORFOLK, Va. -(AP)- Norfolk's resident Evil Eye Fleagle, Ted Owens, has zonked the world champion Baltimore Colts and wants a $100,000 check to remove the hex and keep them on the pro football pedestal.

Owens, who claims mind-over-matter psychic powers, wrote the Colts Feb. 2 warning that "I intend to attack the world champions of pro football with my mind."

The doleful result of such an attack, Owens says, would be that the Colts will "have key injuries in the coming season to key players, losing games they shouldn't lose."

And the threats of the Wizard of the Withering Look haven't gone unheeded by the Colt management. Colt President Carroll Rosenbloom wrote Owens on March 4:

"Please believe me when I request that you remove us from your list of losers. If you will please advise me as to a course of action which we could follow to have us removed from this category, I will do whatever I can to comply.

"I note with great interest your record of accomplishments and trust you will intervene with the space intelligences on our behalf."

Rosenbloom concluded by suggesting a meeting with Owens.

Owens said the Colts' answers to his letters were "unsatisfactory" since he demanded $100,000, which hasn't been forthcoming, to remove the hex.

"I need the money," he said, "to finance a home away from sordid commercial interests and to pay for a trip to Europe, where I intend to study the research of an Asian friend who developed a method of dropping birds from trees by the sound waves of his whistle.

"I think I can improve on his system and get greater distance and velocity with a tuning fork."

And what if the $100,000 were to be paid?

Why, says Owens, "I could sit in the stands and destroy the Colts' opponents play-by-play ... Or they could use me theatrically-with a canopy over my head or something denoting the presence of a resident psychic."

Owens says he formulated the hex against Baltimore in "about 10 seconds" in February by drawing a square with the word "Colts" inside on a piece of paper and "mentally imposing special other

NORFOLK'S RESIDENT Evil Eye Fleagle has zonked the World Championship Baltimore Colts into an old gray nightmare and wants a $100,000 check to remove the hex and put 'em back where they used to be.

Ted Owens, Norfolk's resident psychic and the most interesting bad-eye proponent of mind over matter since Sophie Tucker winked and hung up her garters, is at it again.

His explanation is as follows: "On Feb. 21 I first wrote the Colts saying I intended to attack the world champions of pro football with my mind, so that they would have key injuries in the coming season to key players, losing games they shouldn't lose, to stop them from repeating as champions."

## Colts Need Luckiest Horseshoes

The Colts defeated the Dallas Cowboys 16-13 in the Jan. 17 Super Bowl in Miami. After Owens' letter to the Colts, a series of letters were exchanged with the Colts' management.

Learning of Owens' reputation as a wizard of the withering look (his ability to communicate with space people, create storms, and predict the future has been chronicled in a series of articles by Otto Binder in Saga magazine), the Colts' leadership was wintering in Miami with sweltering palms.

It resulted in a letter from Baltimore Colts President Carroll Rosenbloom, written in apparent desperation to Owens March 4.

Rosenbloom wrote: "For the life of me, I can't understand what the Colts have done to warrant a place on your list of losers for the 1971 season.

"I would believe you when I request that you remove us from your list of losers. If you will please advise me as to a course of action that we should follow to have us removed from this category, I will do whatever I can to comply. I note with great interest your record of achievements and trust you will intercede with the space intelligences on our behalf."

ROSENBLOOM CONCLUDED by requesting a meeting with the king of the badlook who claims to have slung more misfortune with his eyeballs than Slinging Sammy did at TCU.

Owens said the Colts' answers to his letters were "unsatisfactory" since he demanded $100,000, which has not been forthcoming.

"I need the money," Owens explained, "to finance a home away from sordid commercial interests and pay for a European trip where I intend to study the research of an Asian friend who developed a method of dropping birds from trees by the sound waves from his whistle.

"I think I can improve on his system and get greatest distance and velocity with a tuning fork," he added.

Owens has been frustrated by the Colts' apparent lack of interest in his $100,000 offer. "I could sit in the stands and destroy the Colts opponents play by play if they would cooperate," he explained. "They could pay me theatrically if they prefer... with a canopy over my head or something denoting the presence of a resident psychic."

Frustrated by the Colts' indifference, Owens has been systematically destroying the team, he says, with intense concentration.

"For about 10 seconds in February I took a sheet of paper and made a square with the word 'Colts' inside it and mentally imposed special other dimensional effects including red and black units." It was, he said, pretty much like setting the clock on a time bomb.

Meanwhile, for whatever reason, the Colts have been falling apart like a Nixon speech.

On April 7, the Colts' star quarterback, Johnny Unitas, considered the finest pro quarterback ever, mysteriously injured his right foot while playing paddleball.

HE WAS RUSHED to the hospital by Baltimore Colts halfback Tom Matte, who later came down with a case of bleeding ulcers while on a business trip to Havre de Grace, Md. Both are now ensconced in Baltimore's Union Memorial Hospital. Five other key Colts players are also on the injured list.

Since the Unitas-Matte injuries, Colts' President Rosenbloom has gone into hiding.

"I have nothing against the Colts per se," Owens explained, "it's simply that I need the money."

Owens, a former professional knife-thrower and one-time secretary to Dr. J. B. Rhine, the nation's leading expert in parapsychology, has claimed similar feats to a skeptical public.

His most incredible verified sports performance occurred years ago when Philadelphia Daily News columnist Stan Hockman watched him.

Hockman wrote in a piece for the Daily News in which he challenged Owens to prove that he could do what he claimed, during a game involving the Philadelphia Eagles.

Owens told the columnist that space intelligence would assist him in getting Philadelphia Eagles fullbacks and halfbacks out of the game. Owens said he would do it by mentally superimposing clumps of hair, like wigs, on the backs of the players. Hockman reported that shortly after the remark, Woodeshick was ejected from the game for fighting.

The Norfolk Evil Eye has since become more sophisticated and will probably experiment with his tuning fork on the Colts until his conditions are met.

"They simply don't understand the kind of hair-raising power that's in my possession," Owens said.

He thumped the shiny metal fork with his finger, producing a curious hum. "Why," he said, "I could put sounds in their ears, so they couldn't hear the signals."

April 11, 1971...TO ALL CONTACTS

(1) Enclosed is a sample...of many, many letters I have from people... who tell me...of miracles which have happened after receiving their charged and coded disc. In this case...a woman who couldn't walk... got her disc...and now walks.

(2) I assumed you-all would be able to understand what is obvious... by my sending you that xerox of newsclip of Dr. Wright and the NASA scientists finding a UFO base in the Bahamas. But in case you missed the point, let me spell it out.

THE SI'S WANTED HIM TO FIND THEIR BASE. THEY PLANNED IT THAT WAY. ...Go back a little, in my contact letters to you...maybe four or five months, somewhere in there...I wrote to the President and told him that my Si's powers issued FROM THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE, in the Bahamas. I offered to him to be set adrift in a boat for 30 days within the triangle...with a submerged sub as company to photograph the whole thing...and I'd try to "talk the Si's down"...to prove their reality. Well, instead of taking me up on it...the NASA team, loaded down with electronic gear, went down there. They not only saw the UFO's flying, landing, and taking off...but they walked up to them while they were parked on the beach!!

Then the scientists done strange things. As you know, the U.S. Govt. has always insisted that there no such critters as UFO's. But now the govt. does an about face...not only states the UFO's are real, but that extraterrestrials man them!

All this, of course, backs up Otto Binder's recent articles on me in Saga...he even wrote in the articles of my offer to spend 30 days in the Bermuda Triangle.

But there is more. In the article about Dr. Wright and the NASA team... it stated that the scientists at Cape Kennedy had been receiving, for some time, mysterious radio signals from the Bermuda Triangle area... especially at launch times when important rocket shots were going up. Now...you all know, or should know...of my work for several years... in using PK to affect space shots. That is, before and at launch time...I issue forth signals of my own, from my brain, aimed at Cape Kennedy...and the NASA activity there. When you put it all together... me linked with the Si's...me aiming PK effects at launchings...radio signals aimed at the Cape from the Bermuda Triangle during launchings... then the finding of the UFO base at the source of the mysterious radio signals...this all ties together like the laces on a football.

It ties me and the Si's together. Just as they have found out in the Bahamas that the UFO's are for real...NOW THEY CAN KNOW THAT I AM FOR REAL! (Aside from my many miracles, hundreds, documented and proven.) Do you understand my point?

And further...since the Si's are advanced past us to an unlimited degree...DO YOU THINK FOR ONE MOMENT THEIR BASE COULD HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED UNLESS THEY WANTED IT TO BE DISCOVERED...EVEN TO ALLOWING NASA SCIENTISTS TO WALK UP TO THE VEHICLES ON THE BEACH?

What the Si's were "saying" by allowing this to happen...more, arranging for it to happen...was: "Here we are, we are real, we are functioning...and Owens, or PK Man, who has said we have a base of power in the Bahamas...was right. And it is we who worked with Owens at rocket-launching time at the Cape, to affect space shots!"

Think about it, Contacts. You are in on history being made.

It will be awhile before I can get this to you. Takes money for the xeroxing, stamps, etc., and right now am short.

TO ALL CONTACTS

The other night...two young men (20-26) carried another young man, same age...up into my apartment, ostensibly for me to use my powers to help him walk. The cripple gets around in a paraplegic chair... and even drove his own car here.

I made discs for them...used different systems on the cripple... then an alarm bell rang in my mind. The Si's told me...warning, danger.

I whipped (am lightning fast) my .38 out and covered them...and the cripple slowly, very slowly, took a loaded automatic pistol from his jacket pocket.* (my wife was present.)

I directed them down to their car...and found a loaded shotgun under the front seat.

It is my belief...that someone (a pro football team?) hired them for a "hit". But this time...the Si's and I were too fast for them.

Thought you'd like to know...this fascinating new twist.

From now on...any stranger, no matter what credentials he is carrying...will be frisked for weapons...before he can enter my house.

Ted Owens (PK Man)

*and handed the gun to me butt first.

PS...my uncanny mind..."placed", I believe, the two younger men (not the cripple). One of them, called "Jack", had the initials L-O-V-E tattooed on the knuckles of his hand; the right, as I remember; and the other, called "Barney", had a very large butcher knife tattooed on his upper right arm. I recall dimly, 3-6 years ago...reading somewhere that a killer was "wanted"...with L-O-V-E tattooed on his knuckles.

The crippled man was brilliant; the obvious leader. He snapped out commands which the other two instantly obeyed. It was a close call.

Keep in mind...that I am using my mind...to place blazing heat and fire and drought over the United States! I told you this...some time ago. It is now taking strong effect. Am giving a national demonstration of my uncanny, only-one-of-its-kind power of my half human, half Si, mind. When the heat begins beating at you, tearing at you...and you read in the papers of drought-stricken areas nation-wide...know that it is I, PK Man, causing it. And the Si's.

Just a line...to tell you in advance...what I am going to bring to pass this summer.

(And you must keep in mind...I am using powers directed to me by the UFO's in the Bermuda Triangle...the UFO base discovered by Dr. Wright and his team of NASA scientists.)

Am going to attack, and tear apart, the U.S. stock market.

Some months ago...if you will re-read your Contact letters...I told you I would make this summer the hottest, blazing furnace you could imagine...searing hot drought all over the U.S. Since then...the drought in Texas has become outstanding, as has the drought in Florida...with fires starting "mysteriously" all over the U.S.

I could tell you...which of the 150 other-dimensional mechanisms I have used to bring this drought on...but would take too long by letter. As Otto Binder said in Saga, I use a "shotgun approach." Not one single ODE system, but multiple systems.

And there is an intelligent reason for both of these attacks. They aren't just being done maliciously, for no reason.

One thing you can look for in this blazing summer...a DIFFERENT KIND OF HEAT. The Si's have explained it to me crudely...they said ordinarily there is a "filter" layer of some sort between earth and sun...just like a filter lens on a camera. They have removed this filter layer...to let the sun straight through. This will cause strange and weird heat effects...so that you will KNOW this summer's record heat and drought is NOT of the ordinary kind.

Now let's see what happens.

VIRGINIAN-PILOT
APRIL 27, '71

CALL HIM WHAT YOU WILL--Svengali or Sultan or Swami--Ted Owens of Norfolk may best be described as a Wizard of Odds.

This incredible man is betting his own mind-over-matter reputation against the management of pro football and basketball squads.

He's trying to make a buck on The Baltimore Colts and straight shooters out of the Baltimore Bullets with no more than ESP and a tuning fork.

He claims he's getting away with it, and it may be so. No matter what happens there hasn't been such a display of the backside of sports since Gussie Moran went in for lace panties.

As you recall, gentle reader, there appeared here, about a week ago a story about Norfolk's Eagle Eye Fleagle Ted Owens. Owens wrote Baltimore Colts board chairman Carroll Rosenbloom that unless the Colts paid him $100,000 he would destroy the club with a mental trumpet the likes of which have not been seen since Joshua blew taps around Jericho.

# Fork Cuts Into World Of Sports

Rosenbloom wrote him to lay off but expressed an interest in meeting with Owens sometime, doubtless noting that since the letter his quarterback John Unitas and halfback Tom Matte had experienced injuries.

After an exchange of letters, Rosenbloom is now talking money. On April 12 Owens received a letter from Rosenbloom noting:

"If you could receive permission from Commissioner Pete Rozelle, to aid us for the $25,000 fee, we then, in good conscience, could give your proposal serious consideration.

"Again, thank you for your offer to let us off the hook, we certainly will do everything reasonable to assure our continued success."

If Rosenbloom truly thinks Owens is a modern Mephistopheles, why does he need Rozelle's approval? This kind of linament-headed thinking is what persuades people that professional sports in this country is being run by charlie-horse headed homo sapiens whose thinking runs in the same direction as Wrong-Way Corrigan.

Owens says he needs $100,000 to finance a home in the country and do further research on the tuning fork which he has now perfected to such an extent that he can now move turtles from one side of their bowl to another.

He obviously is the only person connected with this debacle who knows what he's doing. He will lay off and put the hex on the Colts' opponents for $100,000.

It is a matter of indifference to him whether he puts the bad eye on Colts' opponents under a canopy in the stands or hides beneath the floor in darkened watery passageways, like the Phantom of the Opera.

IT IS OBVIOUS that Mr. Rozelle's jurisdiction doesn't extend to the sewer. If it does he has found his place and we have no further quarrel with him. It is this business of passing the buck that we object to.

Speaking of passing the Bucks, the Norfolk Eagle Eye Fleagle has also offered to use his restorative mental powers on injured Baltimore Bullets basketball star Gus Johnson.

The Bullets are now engaged in a do-or-die battle with the Milwaukee Bucks for the National Basketball Association Championship.

On Sunday's ABC Television Sports coverage of the game an announcer noted that Owens had offered his services to Bullets' coach Gene Shue and that Shue had turned him down.

"It made me furious," Owens said. "The score was about even when he made the remark and I immediately phoned The Baltimore Sun and told them I was going to mentally destroy the Bullets in the second half." The Sun has confirmed the conversation.

OWENS CLAIMED he used his finger with "a lightning effect" pointing it to the TV screen in his home. "I also put a mental lid over the basket when the Bullets were shooting," he said.

Whatever the cause, it is curious to note that The Associated Press reports of the game state that the Bullets "fell apart" during the second half.

They lost, 102-83, and the Bucks have a two-game lead in the best of seven series. One writer noted that the Bullets looked as awkward as Ernest Borgnine at a meeting of the Colonial Dames.

Owens' recent activities have gotten a rise out of The Baltimore Sun sports writers and were chronicled also in a Washington Post column which marched off, understandably, in all directions.

But it's money for tuning-fork research that Owens is after.

"I'm not an idiot or a nut," he said. "But I'm becoming very impassioned."

He pinged his finger against the tuning fork, producing a ringing hum, like wet fingers rubbed on the rim of a crystal glass.

"What I can do with that is so powerful," he said, "it even frightens me sometimes."

# Hexer Convinces 'Bewitched' Colts

**With William Gildea**

JUST WHEN George Allen and all his old Rams got to town, and everybody's hopes were so high for next football season, it appears the Redskins have found yet another way to lose. They're probably doomed, and they don't know it.

They've been hexed by the Evil Eye Fleagle of Norfolk, Va., fellow named Ted Owens, who claims mind-over-matter psychic powers. The Redskins shouldn't get the wrong idea. It's not that he couldn't get a season ticket, or anything like that. He's only vaguely heard of George Allen.

The Evil Eye has it in for 13 National Football League teams he apparently thinks will be "the best ones." Since the Patriots, as well as the Redskins, are on the list, it should already be apparent he knows something we don't. The Colts are his prime target, however.

Even in the business of unleashing "psychokinetic" power or PK, which is what he says he does, the idea is to knock off No. 1. On Feb. 2, he wrote a letter to the Colts warning, "I intend to attack the world champions of pro football with my mind."

Could we now have an inkling of the cause of that most devastating paddle-ball game in which Johnny Unitas ripped off Achilles tendon and his paddle mate, Tom Matte, came down with appendicitis, and both ended up in the same hospital that night? The Norfolk psychic says he makes no predictions as to the exact nature of a team's bad luck.

OWENS HAS A reason for hexing all these football teams. "Spatial intelligences," he says, have reported that creating this flap in pro football is the best way of getting the attention of the American people.

So far he is having trouble getting the attention of the pro football people, which apparently accounts for his negative approach. He claims he'd rather help the teams, except no one will listen. Well, almost no one.

The exception, he says, is Carroll Rosenbloom, chairman of the board of the Colts. That paddle-ball game must have him wondering. Owens says Rosenbloom has written him twice and quotes the Colts' official as saying:

"Please believe me when I request that you remove us from your list of losers. If you will please advise me as to a course of action which we could follow to have us removed from this category, I will do whatever I can to comply."

THAT WAS Rosenbloom's first response, which also acknowledged Owens' accomplishments outside of sports. It is said he has provoked some storms, literally. After the paddle-ball game, Rosenbloom wrote again. By this time it seems he was ready to declare the Norfolk wizard the Colt's MVP.

Except for league rules. Owens relates that Rosenbloom said his "fellow owners would never forgive me" for signing him up, but suggested approaching Pete Rozelle for "league approval." Owens isn't very confident Rozelle will understand the message.

But, looking into the future, Owens declares, "PK at sports events will become a regular thing. There will be PK masters on each side of the field willing that their team win."

NO WONDER Owens calls Rosenbloom "a nice fellow ... the smartest man in pro football." Consider how lightly another team treated him. He offered to make the Philadelphia Eagles world champions, no small undertaking.

You'd think they'd try anything, considering their plight, but they only gave Owens a one-game tryout. Even a raw rookie cornerback gets more.

Owens says he agreed to hit the Pittsburgh Steelers with PK one Sunday, but warned the Eagles it was up to them to do their part. "Sure, enough," he said, "Pittsburgh dropped balls, lost fumbles, everything." Except the Eagles were worse, lost the game, and Owens was out. Well, you know what happened to Jerry Wolman and that franchise.

Undoubtedly, George Allen won't make the same mistake. They say he thinks of everything. He'll probably invite all the PK champions to an early camp.
